Retail-Ready Display Box 280×180×220 mm: Packaging That Sells Straight from the Counter

A display box, also known as a show box, is dual-purpose cardboard packaging. It travels to the point of sale as an ordinary closed shipping box, then converts into a counter display in seconds: the upper section tears away by hand along a perforation line built into the structure, leaving an open tray with sloped side walls and a tall backing panel — a topper — carrying the brand logo. The products immediately face the shopper, with no restocking or extra retail fixtures needed. For confectionery producers — in this case, handmade caramel — it is a practical way to get branded counter merchandising out of the packaging itself.

The construction consists of three separate elements: a front half, a back half, and an internal insert that forms a raised base inside the tray and lifts the products into the shopper’s line of sight. The finished box measures 280×180×220 mm.

The geometry — with its perforation, sloped walls, and shaped topper — is a custom-engineered design: a dedicated cutting die was produced for each of the three elements. When a client needs a more standard construction, die development can often be skipped altogether — the Pergament print house in Chisinau keeps a library of over 3,000 ready-made cutting dies, from which a suitable shape can be selected. This cuts both the budget and the lead time for custom cardboard packaging.

All elements are made of GC1 cellulose board, 320 g/m² and 0.55 mm thick, with a coated face and a white reverse. The strength margin matters here: the box must first withstand shipping and stacking, then hold its shape on the counter under the weight of the displayed goods. The white interior looks clean and tidy in the open display.

The front and back halves are offset-printed in full CMYK colour, 4+0: the vivid illustration and logo on the outside, clean white board on the inside. The print is finished with roll matte lamination. The protective film shields the artwork from abrasion and moisture all the way from warehouse to counter, while the matte texture eliminates glare under store lighting — the packaging stays readable from any angle and reads as premium. For the client, it is an affordable finish with a visible impact on how the brand is perceived at the shelf.

Order type — packaging. The full production cycle was carried out at the Pergament print house (Chisinau, Moldova): structural design and custom cutting dies, prepress, offset printing, roll matte lamination, and die-cutting with perforation.
